I made mention of the main determinants of health in my
previous post, and now I see the importance of breaking them down for better
understanding. Role of social and economic environment is what I will briefly take a
look at today.
Our health is partly determined by access to social and
economic opportunities; income, social status, our interactions and
relationships, education, working conditions, support networks and housing
among others. So, social conditions we
live in can partly explain why some are healthier than others.
It is of paramount importance for us to periodically view our
social and economic conditions. Improving on the good ones and getting rid of
the conditions that seem to adversely affect our health is the way forward.
Collectively, we should work to establish policies that will
positively influence our social and economic conditions. This, as you can see,
is not a one-man work.
